Key Issues For The Dental Industry —
As the peak business organisation for dental product manufacturer and suppliers, the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA) seeks to influence government decision making to ensure that regulation dental products that is based on a risk management approach designed to ensure public health and safety, while at the same time freeing industry from any unnecessary regulatory burden. To help achieve this ADIA meets frequently with Ministers, opposition front benchers and other key parliamentary stakeholders.
ADIA’s engagement with parliamentarians is typically undertaken by the ADIA Chief Executive Officer and staff within the Association’s policy team; however, once a year the dental industry’s senior leadership have the opportunity to be part of this work.
The Dental Industry Parliamentary Roundtable initiative has been underway since 2011 and provides a platform for business leaders to speak directly to those responsible for approving policy relating to dental product manufacturers and suppliers. Each year it is attended by the Minister for Health [Hon. Greg Hunt MP, pictured], Minister for Small Business and, as the need arises, other Ministers have attended. Opposition spokes people also attend in addition to key cross-bench senators.
This year the Dental Industry Parliamentary Roundtable initiative will be held on Tuesday, 16 October 2018. The day before ADIA will host a parliamentary reception which will be attended by key parliamentary stakeholders in addition to leaders from the business community and healthcare sector.
Member Engagement —
The association's policy advocacy on international trade policy is undertaken by the team within the ADIA whom receive advice and guidance from employees of member businesses serving on the ADIA-PRPC Product Regulation Policy Committee and the ADIA-TCPC Trade & Commercial Policy Regulation Committee. Member updates are provided at the quarterly series of ADIA State Branch Briefings.
