2014 Budget — Regulatory harmonisation

.
The Government will provide funding in the 2014 Australian Government budget to continue the harmonisation and alignment of schemes for the regulation of therapeutic products between Australia and New Zealand; however, this may not necessarily be via the proposed Australian New Zealand Therapeutic Products Agency (ANZTPA). The expenditure for this measure is not for publication due to ongoing negotiations with the New Zealand Government.

.
As a result of discussions at a parliamentary and departmental level post-budget, the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA) understands that formation of the proposed Australia New Zealand Therapeutic Products Agency (ANZTPA) will be discontinued, but that the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) and Medsafe in New Zealand will continue to progress regulatory harmonisation and convergence activities.
