Statistics — Dental Workforce Data

To provide businesses across the dental industry with the information necessary to grow, create jobs, and operate sustainably the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA) publishes data to the Australian Dental Workforce In Numbers Report. This provides guidance on the potential demand for dental products in each state/territory and where growth opportunities may emerge.

The Australian Dental Workforce In Numbers Report provides data on the number of current dental professionals in the workplace plus data over the past five years as measured each June and December. It analyses the workforce for the following categories

Dental Professionals Analysed In The Report —

Dentists and related specialist
Dental prosthetists
Dental therapists
Dental hygienists
Oral health therapists.

The report includes data on the number of professionals in addition to key demographic information such as age and gender in addition to information on number of hours worked and whether the professional is employed in the private or public sector.

The Australian Dental Workforce In Numbers Report is free to download for employees of ADIA member businesses and $82.50 for non-member businesses

Australian Dental Industry In Numbers Report

These documents are updated periodically as the underpinning data becomes available from sources that includes the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) and the Dental Board of Australia (DBA) plus the Australian Bureau of Statistics, while older data has also been accessed from the now disbanded Health Workforce Australia.

With respect to the types market data and analysis published by ADIA the team in the ADIA National Office received advice and guidance from members serving on the ADIA-MRRC Market Research Reference Committee.
